Radiologist doctor checking xray

Our Client, Mr Y suffered from a misdiagnosis of hip osteoarthritis which led to him unnecessarily suffering two years of ongoing pain and suffering with the effects of his condition, before finally undergoing a total hip replacement.

Mr Y was suffering from severe groin pain which had become so bad that he had to give up his job as a mechanic. He eventually saw a musculoskeletal specialist who diagnosed him as having a leg length discrepancy and stated this was the cause of his pain. He received no follow-up advice from this appointment and was not given any next steps for treatment.

The pain persisted, and as a result, our client suffered and was unable to work throughout this time. Due to the COVID pandemic, Mr Y faced long waiting lists in late 2020 to seek an appointment with a spinal surgeon and went private. Mr Y was eventually able to meet with a spinal surgeon, who advised that the source of his pain was likely his hips. He was referred to an Orthopaedic Surgeon, who quickly diagnosed him as having severe hip arthritis, which was causing severe groin pain. Unfortunately for our client, the arthritis had developed so much that the only option was to have a total hip replacement. Having been advised that following the pandemic, waiting lists for total hip replacement were over two years, our client had no choice but to undergo the procedure privately at great cost.

Medical negligence solicitor Thomas Kamlow secured the settlement for our client, to make up for the high cost of private medical treatment, the pain and suffering our client experienced and the significant loss of earnings he experienced as a result of the misdiagnosis as unfortunately for our client he was forced to take early retirement.
