Significant Settlement Valued at Over £200,000 for Mother Following Traumatic Birth and Negligent Post-Operative Care

His client, Mrs J was admitted to Hospital in October 2018 to induce labour. Despite a lack of progress over several days and signs that the baby was large and impacted, medical staff failed to implement a proper care plan or perform timely obstetric reviews. Crucially, when a Caesarean Section was eventually discussed, Mrs J was not adequately counselled on the risks of continuing a vaginal birth, leading to a delay in surgery.

When the Category 2 Caesarean Section finally took place, the baby’s head was severely impacted. This delay caused the surgical wound to become necrotic, requiring Mrs J to suffer an open wound for a prolonged period and to undergo two painful debridement procedures and have a prolonged stay in hospital.
